  1. LOVE it, you SO captured the russian spirit (the colors, the motives) in you pics (so, so lovely!)

  2. The girl with the ribbon around her neck reminds me of a story I read as a child where a woman always has a ribbon tied around her neck, she gets married and her husband always wonders about the ribbon and one night during her sleep he takes it off and her head falls off.

  8. I miss Russia!
HAHA I love the typical stereotypes- borsh, an old woman on the street, and the little tacky kiosks full of useless objects.

P.S: Since WHEN do they have RUSSIAN scrabble?!

  9. I got a little melancholic looking at these photos, miss Moscow and think you captured the essence of the city: wild, romantic and so unique

  12. hello YVAN, I'm a first time visitor to your site + I've never traveled to russia

the photographs are beautiful, but I found the overall effect to be sad and even a bit scary (the mixture of military + fashion) ::: "post-totalitarian punk" :::
apparently, a russian artist has the same point of view (i.e. the photo of a model in green dress next to camouflaged figure with gun)

... and yet the smiles of some of the women are beautiful

is there any way for you to set up slideshows on blogspot?
I'd love to see all 52 photos (a deck of cards!) moving across my screen like a movie

  14. It's insane how talanted you really are. You can capture the most ugly faces and turn them into something beautiful. And you make the beautiful and interesting faces even more interesting. That is pure creativity, you inspire me to the fullest. Keep up the good work!

  17. I occurs to me that "high fashion" is an attempt to capture that fleeting moment when an attractive, underfed street urchin outgrows his clothes.
